In 1868 a yaung Scottish immigarant, John Muir,
arrived in San Francisco and asked for the way to
«Anywhere that’s wild».People told him about the
magical valley in the mountains of Sierra Nevada
and so he went there. He is believed to have
shouted with joy when he first saw Yosemite,
and this place became the love of his life.
Muir wanted Yosemite to be preserved in its
original state. A few years later the federal
government established the Yosemite
National park to protect the unique nature
of this place.

These huge trees grow only in the west coast of the US and in one valley in China. They are as high as a 35-storey building.
